Sophomore Chris Brady had another strong event, placing in a tie for sixth at two-over par. She strung together rounds of 72-67-73 to lead her Vanderbilt team. Kristen Svicarovich was not far behind, firing 72-73-74 to tie for 20th place. Vanderbilt freshman Liebelei Lawrence, who struggled Friday with an 84, came back with rounds of 77 and 72.

Anastasia Kostina of Washington State was the medalist, shooting five-under 205.

“I thought we made a good comeback after our first day put us in quite a hole,” said Vanderbilt Coach Martha Richards Freitag. “I was very impressed with the play of Chris and Kristen and Liebelei came back very well today. I think she learned a lot in this tournament.

“Right now our top three golfers are playing steady golf but we need to find consistency in our fourth score,” Freitag continued. “We will have some qualifying during the next week between Julie Bartholomew, Helen Richards and Devon Unkeless to see who we will take to Wilmington in 10 days. They are working hard and learning a lot right now, lessons that I think will begin to pay off for us this spring.”
