Sept. 19, 2017

Division I National Poll | Division I South Regional Poll

NASHVILLE – The Vanderbilt women’s cross country team checks in at No. 29 in the latest national rankings released on Tuesday by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Commodores are coming off a second-place finish at the Commodore Classic with wins over ranked opponents Missouri and Eastern Michigan.

The Commodores, who also moved up a spot to the No. 2 team in the South Regional rankings, are tied with Yale out of the Ivy League and are just behind SEC foe, Missouri who sits at No. 28 and Ohio State, the winners of the Commodore Classic, who check in at No. 27. This marks the seventh consecutive year the Dores have been ranked in the top 30 during the regular season.

The top 5 remain unchanged from last week with Colorado retaining the nation’s top spot, while Oregon, New Mexico, Michigan and Stanford round out the top 5.

The SEC is represented by five teams in the national poll with Arkansas leading the pack and checking in at No. 10. Ole Miss (17), Mississippi State (24), Missouri (28) and the Commodores round out the SEC contingent. The SEC is also in charge in the South Region with the top three spots belonging to SEC squads in Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.

The Vanderbilt cross country teams are back in action on Sept. 30 when they hit the road for Kentucky and the Louisville Classic.
