Women’s Basketball Schedule Features 14 Home Dates 9-1-03 9/1/2003 Season Ticket Plan Announced The 2003-04 Vanderbilt women’s basketball schedule features 14 home dates and nine games against teams that advanced to last year’s NCAA Tournament. The 27-game schedule includes three non-conference tournaments and three televised contests. Vanderbilt opens the season at the Banknorth Classic, Nov. 21-22 in Burlington, Vt. The Commodores battle South Alabama on Nov. 21 then take on St. Francis (N.Y.) or tournament host Vermont on Nov. 22. Samford, Louisville and Princeton visit Memorial Gym, for a two-day, two-game tournament on Nov. 28-29. Vanderbilt will play Samford on Nov. 28 and then take on either Louisville or Princeton on Nov. 29. December home games include tilts against New Orleans (Dec. 4), Duquesne (Dec. 6) and 2003 NCAA Tournament participant Weber State (Dec. 13). The Commodores conclude the 2003 calendar year at the Gatorade Holiday Classic in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 28-29. Vanderbilt will play Rhode Island on Dec. 28 then battle either tournament host Miami or Toledo on Dec. 29. Vanderbilt’s final tune-ups prior to Southeastern Conference play are home contests against Syracuse (Jan. 2) and Savannah State (Jan. 5). Kentucky is Vanderbilt’s first SEC opponent on Jan. 8 in Memorial Gym. Other highlights to the conference schedule include: An appearance on national television (ESPN2) at home against Auburn, Jan. 18, at 4:30 p.m. The annual home-and-home series against rival Tennessee. The first meeting is in Knoxville, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on SEC-TV. Tennessee visits Memorial Gym on Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. A trip to Arkansas on Jan. 29. The Lady Razorbacks advanced to the second round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament. A Feb. 5 battle against Georgia in Memorial Gym. Georgia reached the Sweet 16 of last year’s NCAA Tournament. A trip to LSU on Feb. 19 for a regionally televised contest on SEC-TV. The Tigers were NCAA Tournament West Regional finalists a year ago. A pair of games against 2003 NCAA Tournament participants Mississippi State (Feb. 26) and South Carolina (Feb. 29). The match-up against Mississippi State marked Vanderbilt’s final regular-season home game at Memorial Gym. The contests against South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., concludes Vanderbilt’s regular season. The 2004 Southeastern Conference Tournament is March 4-7 at Nashville’s Gaylord Entertainment Center. The 2004 NCAA Final Four will be at New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, La. Vanderbilt Athletics offers three ticket packages for Commodore women’s basketball fans. Season tickets to all 14 home games at Memorial Gym are $75 each. Youth season tickets are also available for $30. The “Family of Four Pass” season ticket package for $175 includes two adult and two youth season tickets in section I-K of Memorial Gym.
