The cross country women went out of their way this past fall to prove this was the “new” black and gold. On Wednesday, they got some new black and gold to prove it.
The 2011 SEC Cross Country Champion Commodores got their rings at halftime of the men’s basketball game.
The black and gold rings, engraved with “SEC Champions” and “NCAA 6,” celebrate the team’s first SEC title and their sixth place finish at the national championship meet this past fall.
It was a sweet moment for the team, who worked so hard last season and exceeded everyone’s expectations, as the team not only won their first SEC title, but made their first team appearance at the NCAA championships.
