Defending Southeastern Conference champion Vanderbilt has been selected 14th in a poll of coaches, the September 3 issue of Golf World reports.

The publication asked coaches to select the top teams and individuals.  Ten individuals were cited while Commodore sophomore Chris Brady was chosen among the “Best of the Rest”.

Vanderbilt is coming off its finest season in program history.  In addition to the prestigious conference championship, the Commodores captured the NCAA Tournament Central Region title and also won major tournaments at Kentucky, Arizona and Texas.

Brady, a sophomore, burst on the collegiate scene by winning medalist honors at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic and the Kentucky Wildcat Invitational.  She was later named second team all-SEC.

UCLA tops the Golf World poll, followed by Duke, Georgia and Auburn.

Vanderbilt lost three All-Americans from last year’s roster with the graduation of Sarah Jacobs and Courtney Wood and the early departure of May Wood, who turned professional.  The Commodores have four freshmen on their six-person roster this season.

Vanderbilt opens its season Sept. 20-22 at the NCAA Fall Preview, hosted by Oregon State.
