NASHVILLE – The Vanderbilt women’s cross country team moved up the national rankings this week checking in at No. 25 in the latest national rankings released on Tuesday by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Commodores, who moved up four spots this week in the USTFCCCA poll, also remained steady at No. 24 in the FloTrack cross country national poll. Vanderbilt is just behind SEC foe Mississippi State in the national rankings. Arkansas (No. 9) and Ole Miss (No. 16) lead the SEC in the national rankings. Vanderbilt remains the No. 2 team in the South Regional rankings this week.
The top 5 nationally remain unchanged from last week with Colorado retaining the nation’s top spot, while Oregon, New Mexico, Michigan and Stanford round out the top 5.
The SEC is represented by four teams in the national poll with Arkansas leading the pack and checking in at No. 9. Ole Miss (16), Mississippi State (23) and the Commodores round out the SEC contingent. The SEC is also in charge in the South Region with the top three spots belonging to SEC squads in Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.
The Vanderbilt cross country teams are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Kentucky for the Louisville Classic hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission.
