NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt volleyball freshman Maya Witherspoon represented the Commodores on the 2025 SEC Volleyball Community Service Team presented by Allstate, the league announced Thursday.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 22league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
This past spring, Witherspoon served on a mission trip to New Mexico with the Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission, painting, cleaning and serving meals from the food bank to residents. She also volunteered at the Anchorton Big Event and National Girls & Women in Sports Day at Jones Paideia Elementary School. Off the court, Witherspoon is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and WhoUWith Ministries.
Witherspoon and the rest of the Commodore volleyball team will play in the first round of the Allstate SEC Volleyball Tournament on Friday. First serve vs. Mississippi State is slated for 4 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on SEC Network.
