The Vanderbilt women’s golf team, ranked 11th in the latest Golfweek poll, heads to the 2012 Liz Murphey Fall Preview at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens this weekend. Eighteen of the top teams in America will get a chance to play at the site of the 2013 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship in a three-day, 54-hole event Friday through Sunday.
Alabama, Auburn, California, Denver, Duke, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Purdue, South Carolina, Southern Cal, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Tulane, UCLA, and Virginia will join the Commodores on the par-72, 6,335-yard layout.
Competing for Vanderbilt this weekend will be senior Lauren Stratton, junior Rene Sobolewski, sophomores Kendall Martindale and Irina Gabasa, and freshman Jenny Hahn.
The tournament will be the third for Vanderbilt this fall, with one tournament remaining October 19-21 in Palo Alto, Calif., at the Stanford Intercollegiate.
