WG To Compete At Collegiate Match Play

Nov. 3, 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s golf team travels to Kissimmee, Fla., to take part in the 2007 Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship, a 16-team tournament that features the top teams from the 2007 NCAA Championships in a modified double-elimination, match-play format.

The Commodores are the #7 seed for the event and will take on the #10 seed Alabama in first round matches on Sunday.  The winner of the Vanderbilt-Alabama match will play the winner of the #2 Florida-#15 Louisville match.  Seeds for the event were determined based on Fall 2007 results through October 15.

The tournament will be held November 4-6 at Kissimmee’s Ginn Reunion Resort, site of one of the LPGA Tour’s showcase stops, the Ginn Open. The Tom Watson-designed Independence Course will serve as the host course for the event.

Each team match will be comprised of five singles matches, using USGA match play scoring. Each singles match winner will be awarded one point.  The team match score will be determined by totaling the points for the five singles matches.  The team with the most points will be the winner.
