View Second Day Results at Lady Tar Heel Invitational
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Vanderbilt women’s golf team is in a tie for seventh after shooting a second-round team score of 299 to post a two-day total of 596 (297-299). Junior Jacqui Concolino leads all Commodore individuals and is in a tie for fourth with a score of 143 (70-73) after shooting a second-round 73 on Saturday.
The Commodores got off to a great start and led the tournament for the early parts of the day but struggled down the stretch.
“We got off to a great start,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “Jacqui had it at four-under through seven, and Megan (Grehan) was two-under through seven holes. We made some mistakes and didn’t play 17 very good. We gave back five strokes on that hole. Ten shots sounds like a lot, but it’s not really in college golf. We’re certainly not out of it. We’ve got to go out there and get off to a good start like we’ve done in the last two days and finish it up.”
Vanderbilt trails first place Tennessee by ten strokes after the Volunteers vaulted to the top of the leaderboard with a second-round 289. Tennessee holds a two-stroke lead on second-place Duke and is five strokes better than third-place Georgia.
Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst leads the individual portion of the tournament and is at five-under, 139 after two rounds. Blumenherst holds a three stroke lead over Alina Lee of Georgia and Natalie Sheary of Wake Forest.
The Commodores other scores for the tournament are Brooke Goodwin, who is in a tie for 15th with a 148 (73-75); Megan Grehan shot a second-round 71 in route to a two-day total of 150, good for a tie for 27th; Liebelei Lawrence is at 155 after two days (75-80, T60), and Julie Bartholomew sits at 166 (81-85, 90) after two rounds.
The final round of the tournament concludes on Sunday morning.
