WG tied for 11th at Tar Heel Invite

The Vanderbilt women’s team is in a tie for 11th at the Tar Heel Invitational after the second round of play at the Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Commodores have a team total of 585 (298-287, +9), which ties them with the Tulane Green Wave heading into the final round on Sunday.

Commodore junior Marina Alex led the way for Vanderbilt with a two-under par, 70, on Saturday. Alex has a total of 144 for the tournament, which puts her in a tie for 22nd. Sophomore Julia Thead is the Commodores’ overall leader with a total of 143 (69-74) and is in a tie for 18th.

Vanderbilt’s 287 on Saturday was the fifth-best team total of the day.

Alabama leads the tournament with a 25-under par, 551 (277-274). The Crimson Tide’s Brooke Pancake continues to lead all individuals with a 10-under par, 134.
