Vanderbilt head women’s golf coach Greg Allen has announced the signing of Rene Sobolewski to a National Letter of Intent to attend Vanderbilt and play golf for the Commodores beginning in the fall of 2010.
“We are thrilled to sign Rene and feel like she will make a great addition to our team and to the Vanderbilt campus,” said Allen. “You can’t help but love her personality and her passion for life. She is super athletic, a great student and really wants to be a Commodore. It seems like a perfect fit to me.”
Sobolewski’s junior highlights include a trip to the Match Play Semifinals of the Western Women’s Junior Amateur 2009 and a runner-up finish in the New York State Women’s Amateur and New York State Junior Amateur in 2008. She was also a member of the USGA New York State Team in 2009, captured the AJGA Preseason Junior at Rochester, N.Y., in May 2009, and was named the Buffalo District Player of the Year 2008.
“I have always wanted to go to a college that has a remarkable reputation for academics, as well as a golf team that competes at the highest level,” said Sobolewski. “I couldn’t ask for anything more than that in Vanderbilt. I can’t wait to be a part of the team as well as the Vanderbilt community.”
Sobolewski chose the Commodores over Georgetown and Kentucky.
