Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen announced the signing of Kendall Martindale to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, and she will be eligible to compete for the Commodores beginning in the fall of 2011.
Martindale, from Jefferson City, Tenn., is a standout junior player with five AJGA titles under her belt and in September, she claimed the 2010 TSSAA Division 1 AAA State Championship. Ranked sixth by the AJGA Polo Golf Rankings in the class of 2011, Martindale captured the AJGA Woodward Video Junior at The Greenbrier, the TGA Tennessee Girls Junior Amateur Championship in July of 2010 and has four career AJGA national victories. She also won the 2010 AJGA Rolex Junior All-American earlier this year.
“Kendall is a big-time recruit for any program, but especially for us right now,” said Allen. “She is the best player in the state of Tennessee and is one of the best in the country. But more importantly, she is the perfect fit for Vanderbilt women’s golf – a good person with a caring heart. She is a bright student that will make the Vanderbilt community a better place.”
