Vanderbilt fired a six-over par, 290, on Saturday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, the low team round of the day, as the Commodores maintain their second-place position on the team leader board after two rounds of play at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C., with a team score of 583 (293-290). Three Commodores are in the top 16, with freshman Simin Feng leading the way after firing a 69, which tied for the low round of the day for an individual.

Feng is in a tie for sixth with a two-over par, 143 (74-69) to lead all Vanderbilt players, fellow freshman Antonia Scherer is in a tie for 10th at 145 (73-72), while junior Kendall Martindale is in a tie for 16th with a score of 147 (73-74). Sophomore Jennifer Hahn is in a tie for 30th with a 150 (73-77), while junior Irina Gabasa is in the clubhouse after two rounds with a total of 152 (77-75).

Vanderbilt gained a stroke on team leader Duke on Saturday, and trail the Blue Devils by eight strokes heading into the final round. Duke has a score of 575 (284-291) for the tournament. The Commodores have a seven-stroke lead on third-place South Carolina.

“The team played with a lot of heart and displayed great patience today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “The golf course played really tough and I’m proud of how they competed from start to finish.”

Individually, Stephanie Meadow of Alabama maintains her lead for medalist honors after posting a two-round score of 139 (67-72). Celine Boutier of Duke and Caroline Nistrup of LSU are one stroke back of Meadow. Feng is four strokes back of Meadow.

The final round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate concludes on Sunday.
