Chapel Hill, N.C. — The Vanderbilt women’s golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Commodore senior Jacqui Concolino and sophomore Megan Grehan paced the Vanderbilt effort with a pair of two-over par, 74’s.
The Commodores are in sixth place as a team, eight strokes behind Wake Forest and Virginia, who lead the tournament with a 294. Vanderbilt shot a first-round 302 on the first day of play.
Behind Concolino and Grehan’s 74’s was freshman Andrea Messer, who fired a 75, sophomore Brooke Goodwin, who shot a 79, and freshman Marina Alex, who carded a first-round 80.
Individually, Jennie Arseneault and Lene Krog of Virginia, Nannette Hill and Natalie Sheary of Wake Forest, and Mercedes Germino of Kent State all have a share of the lead with a one-under par 71. Grehan and Concolino are in a tie for 14th.
