The Commodore women’s golf team carded an 11-over par, 295, in their first round of action at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, Calif., and are in sixth place in the team standings after play on Sunday. Senior Jennifer Hahn and sophomore Cindy Ha paced the Vanderbilt effort, with each carding a one-over 72 in their rounds at the Stanford University Golf Course.
Vanderbilt also counted a three-over, 74, from junior Kate Sborov and a six over, 77, from sophomore Alexandra Farnsworth.
“Today was a respectable day,” said associate head coach Holly Clark. “I’m proud of how Jenn, Cindy, and Kate finished. The course played tough and I thought they managed their games well. Stanford’s course requires a lot of discipline for 18 holes. We gave ourselves lots of opportunities, but we didn’t capitalize on them. We need to continue to be patient and put ourselves in good positions. We’re looking forward to a fun day tomorrow!”
Defending national champion Stanford leads the tournament on their home course after posting a total of three-over, 287. Marissa Chow of Pepperdine leads all individuals after shooting a four-under, 67, Sunday, and holds a one-shot advantage on Bronte Law of UCLA.
The Commodores will begin their second round at 9:15 Pacific time on Monday and will play with Southern California and Georgia.
