Vanderbilt tallied a second-round score of four-over par, 292, on the second day of play at the SEC Championship in Birmingham, Ala., and are in fourth-place on the team leader board with a two-round total of 585 (293-292). Freshman Cindy Ha carded the team’s best round of the day with a one-under 71, while junior Jennifer Hahn is the Commodores’ top scorer after two rounds and is in third place with a two-round score of 146 (75-71).
“I thought the girls played really hard and gave it their best today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “The conditions were better and we made our share of birdies, but unfortunately we made some bogeys along the way that slowed down some momentum we had midway through the round.”
Vanderbilt is one stroke back of third-place Tennessee, and trails team leader Texas A&M by 15 shots after the Aggies blistered the Legacy Course at 11-under par, 277, on Saturday.
The Commodores counted Ha’s 71, Hahn’s 72, a 74 from freshman Alexandra Farnsworth, and a 75 from senior Kendall Martindale.
Individually, Bianca Fabrizio of Texas A&M leads all players with a total of 137 (70-67), one shot ahead of South Carolina’s Katelyn Dambaugh.
“Tomorrow should be a lot of fun,” said Allen. “We know we are very capable of doing what A&M and South Carolina did today. We just need to stay patient and be committed to the process.”
The tournament concludes on Sunday in Birmingham.
