Sophomore Rene Sobolewski had the team’s best round of the day on Tuesday, posting a one-over par, 73. Sobolewski finished in a tie for 26th for the tournament with a 226 (75-78-73).
“I was pleased with Rene’s performance for all 54 holes,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “It was good to see her play well.”
Other finishers for Vanderbilt included Lauren Stratton, who finished in a tie for 13th with a 220 (73-73-74), Kendall Martindale, who carded a 224 (74-75-75) and finished in a tie for 21st, and Anna Leigh Keith, who ended the tournament with a 232 (79-74-79, T-54).
“We didn’t get off to a great start, and we didn’t play very well, but it’s a huge positive that we were able to finish third without a very good round today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Allen. “We certainly didn’t have our best today and still had a chance to win.”
Chirapat Jao-Javanil won medalist honors with a four-under par, 212 (68-70-74), two strokes better than Tessa Teachman of LSU, who finished with a 214 (69-75-70).
The Commodores return to action March 2-4 at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
