The Vanderbilt women’s golf team finished the Windy City Collegiate in 13th place with a final total of 908 (300-309-299) on Tuesday at the Glen View Club in Golf, Ill. Junior Alexandra Farnsworth led the Commodores with a three-round score of 225 (73-80-72).
Tuesday, the Commodores counted Farnsworth’s 72, a pair of 74’s from Abbey Carlson and Courtney Zeng, and a 79 from Kate Sborov.
“I thought the girls did a nice job of putting yesterday’s round behind them and went out and stayed present and focused on on the next shot,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “It was nice to see a few birdie putts drop today. We will use this tournament, like all tournaments, as a learning opportunity and will grow from this experience. Our goal is to get one day better and despite the outcome, I believe we continue to do that.”
Georgia won the team tournament with four strokes over Stanford, and the Cardinal’s Andrea Lee captured medalist honors by one shot over the Bulldogs’ Bailey Tardy.
The Commodores return to the course October 14-16 at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
