WG finishes 13th at Tar Heel Invite

The Vanderbilt women’s golf team finished the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational Sunday in 13th place after carding a final score of 895 (296-299-300) at the UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.. Freshman Abbey Carlson led the team for the weekend with a six-over, 222 (73-75-74), which placed her in a tie for 31st for the tournament individually.

On Sunday, the Commodores counted a 74 from Carlson and senior Kate Sborov, and a pair of 76’s from junior Alexandra Farnsworth and sophomore Courtney Zeng.

Wake Forest won the team title with a final score of 854 (282-287-285), five shots better than second-place Alabama. The Demon Deacons’ Jennifer Kupcho won medalist honors with a final total of 201 (67-68-66).

After this weekend’s play, Vanderbilt has one fall tournament remaining October 23-25 at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown in Boulder City, Nevada.
