The Commodore women’s golf team finished the PING/ASU Invitational in 12th place after posting a final team total of 889 (295-299-305), with junior Lauren Stratton leading all VU players with a total of 223 (72-77-74), which tied her for 32nd place individually.
Sophomore Rene Sobolewski fired Vanderbilt’s best round of the day with a 73 on Sunday.
“We had a rough go of it today, with the wind kicking up,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “But, I’m really proud of the way Rene played today. She was a couple of bad holes away from having a top 10 finish, and I hope that her play and attitude on the golf course is contagious as we regroup and look towards the SEC Championship later this month. She had a really good tournament.”
Number-one ranked UCLA won the team title with a five-over par, 857 (284-281-292), which was 12 strokes better than host Arizona State, who finished second with an 869.
The Commodores’ spring regular season is now complete. Vanderbilt returns to the course for the SEC Championship April 20-22 in Fayetteville, Ark.
