LOUDON, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s golf team ended the 2008 SEC Championship in ninth place after posting a three-round score of 935 (308-317-310) at the Tennessee National Golf Club in Loudon, Tenn. Senior Liebelei Lawrence led the way for the Commodores, carding a final total of 232 (73-82-76), good for a tie for 23rd place.
Lawrence shot a 76 on the final day of competition in route to her 232. Freshman Megan Grehan had the best round on Sunday for Vanderbilt with a third-round 75, and ended the tournament with a 235 (77-83-75), which tied for 30th place. Junior Amber Lundskog also finished in a tie for 30th with a 235 (78-74-83), while sophomore Brooke Goodwin finished in a tie for 36th with a total of 237 (82-77-78). Junior Jacqui Concolino ended the SEC Championship in a tie for 52nd with a 245 (80-84-81).
The University of Florida claimed the 2008 edition of the SEC Championship with a ten-over par 874 (297-293-284), 17 strokes better than second-place Arkansas, who carded an 891 (297-298-296).
Stacy Lewis of Arkansas claimed medalist honors with a two-under par, 214 (69-73-72), one stroke better than Hannah Yun of Florida, who ended with a 215 (73-70-72).
The Commodores ended their regular season after Sunday’s round, and will now wait to see if they are selected into the three NCAA Regional fields, which will be announced by the NCAA on April 28.
