The Vanderbilt women’s golf team, who moved up to number seven in the latest Golfweek rankings, hope to close out their fall season on a positive note at this weekend’s Mercedes Benz SEC/Pac 12 Challenge at the Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville.
Play will begin on Friday for the Commodores at 11:10 a.m. off of the number 10 tee, with Vanderbilt paired up with Arkansas, Colorado, and Oregon State. Other teams participating in the Friday-through-Sunday event are Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, California, UCLA, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, USC, Stanford, Tennessee, Washington, and Washington State.
The Commodores finished second at the Stanford Intercollegiate last weekend to UCLA, and faced off against seven Pac-12 teams at the tournament.
Vanderbilt, playing with a tremendous amount of confidence as their fall season concludes, will send senior Marina Alex, juniors Lauren Stratton and Anna Leigh Keith, sophomore Rene Sobolewski, and freshman Kendall Martindale. Stratton is currently the sixth-rated women’s collegiate golfer in the country, while Alex is the 12th-ranked player.
