KISSIMMEE, Fla. – After 36 holes of stroke play on Sunday, the Vanderbilt women’s golf team earned a number 15 seed and will compete in the consolation round of the NGCA Match Play Championship at the Ginn Reunion Resort. The Commodores fired a team score of 607 (300-307).
The NGCA Match Play Championship is the only match play championship on the collegiate schedule. Match play competition begins Monday, Nov. 3, with two 18-hole matches. Second-round match play action will be based on first-round results. The top eight teams will compete in the championship flight, while seeds 9-16 will compete in the consolation round. The Commodores were led by Marina Alex, who fired a 149 (72-77, T-35). Other Vanderbilt scores were Andrea Messer, who shot a 152 (76-76, T-50), Jacqui Concolino, who carded a 153 (77-76, T-55), Megan Grehan, who also shot a 153 (75-78, T-55), and Brooke Goodwin, who carded a 158 (77-81, T-70).
Vanderbilt will take on Georgia, who earned an 11 seed for the match play proceedings.
