NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A strong second-half showing separated the Commodores from a pesky Davidson 82-50 this afternoon in the first game of the Thanksgiving Tournament in Memorial Gym. The ‘Dores improve to 5-1 on the season.
Vanderbilt shot 56 percent from the field in the second period, outscoring the Wildcats 46-26, after taking a 36-24 advantage into halftime. The ‘Dores also forced 33 turnovers as a stifling defense kept Davidson under control.
Hannah Tuomi and Christina Wirth led VU in scoring with 16 and 14 apiece. Tuomi also grabbed six rebounds and dished two assists, with a steal.
Vanderbilt will face the winner of the St. Joseph’s/Virginia Tech matchup in the Tournament Championship game tomorrow at 4 p.m.
