FULLERTON, Calif. — A record-breaking performance by senior All-America candidate Christina Wirth led the 16th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team to a 83-67 victory over Cal State Fullerton Thursday at Titan Gym.

Wirth became the first Commodore to go 6-for-6 from the three-point line, and established a new career high with 27 points.

Senior Jennifer Risper, playing minutes away from her hometown of Moreno Valley, added 14 points, seven assists and four steals. Risper scored in double-figures for the first time this season as friends and family chanted “Jenny, Jenny” throughout the game.

Sophomore Hannah Tuomi’s 17 points were just shy of a new personal best.

Fullerton’s 20 turnovers mark a season-low for a Vanderbilt opponent, yet the Commodores still scored 31 points directly off of Titan miscues.

While Wirth was perfect from behind-the-arc, Vanderbilt also took advantage of a dominant presence inside, scoring 46 points in the paint to only 20 for Fullerton.

The Commodores will stay in the Golden State through the weekend, traveling to Riverside this Saturday, Dec. 6, for a 6 p.m. CT meeting with the UC Riverside Highlanders.
