CLEMSON, S.C. — The 25th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team looks to rebound from a tough road loss when it travels to face Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson on Tues., Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. CT inside Littlejohn Coliseum.
The Commodores dropped their road opener last week at Indiana State after a 3-for-14 performance from the free throw line. Last season, Vanderbilt led the SEC in free throw shooting, making more than three-quarters of their charity stripe tosses.
Juniors Jennifer Risper and Christina Wirth both contributed double-doubles in last week’s game, while senior Liz Sherwood poured in 19 points.
The Lady Tigers stand at 2-2 after losing at UT-Chattanooga on Sunday. Four players average in double-figures for Clemson, led by sophomore guard Christy Brown.
Last season in Nashville, the Commodores defeated the Lady Tigers, 82-63. Sherwood posted 22 points and 13 rebounds off the bench for Vanderbilt for her first career double-double.
Following Tuesday’s road contest, the Commodores return to Nashville for a three-game homestand. This weekend, they host the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament on Fri., Nov. 23, and Sun., Nov. 25. Admission is free to all four games of the tournament, which features Belmont, Iowa State and Michigan.
Next Wed., Nov. 28, Vanderbilt plays host to national power Duke. All Vanderbilt employees and their guests will be admitted to the game free of charge.
