EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team earned the second seed of the Greensboro (N.C.) Region and will face Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Champion Delaware State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, March 18, at 11 a.m. CT inside the Breslin Student Events Center.

The winner of the matchup between the Commodores and 15th-seeded Lady Hornets will face either seventh-seeded Bowling Green or 10th-seeded Oklahoma State on Tuesday, March 20.

Vanderbilt, the champion of the Southeastern Conference Tournament, is making its 20th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Commodores have won 31 tournament games all-time, including a 1993 Final Four appearance.

The Commodores last earned a second seed in 2004 in Head Coach Melanie Balcomb’s second year at Vanderbilt. That seeding also followed on the heels of an SEC Tournament crown.

Duke earned the No. 1 seed in the Greensboro region and will play its first and second round games in Raleigh, N.C. Arizona State (No. 3 seed) and Rutgers (No. 4 seed) round out the top four of the Greensboro region.

Connecticut, North Carolina and Tennessee also earned No. 1 seeds in the Fresno (Calif.), Dallas (Texas) and Dayton (Ohio) brackets, respectively. Five teams from the SEC earned NCAA bids, including three-seeds Georgia and LSU, and seventh-seeded Ole Miss.

Tickets for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament games are available by calling the Athletic Ticket Office (615-322-GOLD) or the National Commodore Club (615-322-4114).

Orders will be taken over the phone, but ALL tickets will be at the Will Call window at the Breslin Center; no tickets will ever reach McGugin Center due to the tight turn-around. No shortage of tickets is anticipated for the early rounds of the women’s tournament.
