Washington Makes The List

Vanderbilt women's basketball graduate student was selected to the 2026 Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Award midseason top 10 list

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Vanderbilt women’s basketball graduate student Sacha Washington was named to the 2026 Katrina McClain Award midseason top 10 list, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Thursday.

It is the first time that Washington has been included on the midseason top 10 list for the Katrina McClain Award, which goes to the nation’s top power forward, as part of the Naismith Starting 5. Back in November, the graduate student was also named to the McClain Award preseason watch list.

The 6-2 forward leads the Commodores in rebounding this season at 7.5 caroms per game. Washington has been one of the elite offensive rebounders this season, as her 3.7 offensive rebounds per game rank second in the SEC, while it is 23rd-best in NCAA Division I. The Lawrenceville, Georgia, native is also putting up 9.9 points per contest this season, as she has collected a team-best five double-doubles this season and has had 10-plus rebounds in a team-high six games.

The graduate student is one of three SEC players named to the midseason top 10 for the 2026 Katrina McClain Award. Fan voting will begin on Friday, Feb. 6, at www.hoophallawards.com. The leading vote-getter will receive one additional vote from the selection committee.

Washington is the second Vanderbilt women’s basketball player to be selected to a midseason top 10 list for the Naismith Starting 5, as sophomore Mikayla Blakes was named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award midseason top 10 on Tuesday.
