The Vanderbilt women’s golf team steps out of medal play competition this weekend when it participates in the Collegiate Match Play Championships in Orlando, Fla. The three-day, double-elimination, event will take place at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
The Commodores are seeded fourth in the 16-team field that features the top programs in the nation. Vanderbilt plays No. 13 Southern Methodist on Friday.
First round matches begin in a shotgun format at 6:30 a.m. CT. Second round and loser bracket play begins at Noon CT.
Each team match will be comprised of five singles matches, using USGA match play scoring. Each singles match winner will be awarded one point. The team match score will be determined by totaling the points for the five singles matches. The team with the most points will be the winner.

Medalists at each of its past two tournaments, Vanderbilt is ranked fifth nationally in this week’s Golfweek magazine poll. Sophomore Jacqui Concolino, who finished among the top 10 finishers at three of Vanderbilt’s four fall tournaments, is listed fourth in the individual rankings. Senior Kristen Svicarovich earned national player of the week accolades from Golf World magazine last week after leading the Commodores with a 4-under par 67 on the final round of the Stanford Women’s intercollegiate.
