Let’s check in with the latest fan entries, which deal with Vanderbilt’s 28-14 win at Ole Miss last Saturday.

1. Victory was sweet
by William Fesmire

Karen and I (both A&S ’80) attended the Commodore Club pregame brunch at the Lyric Theater in downtown Oxford Saturday. The food was great, fellowship better, but no one envisioned the final score as it played out. Living in Memphis since 1984 and driving to Oxford every other year to tailgate in the Grove with our Ole Miss friends has become a tradition. But this year, Karen wanted to be immersed with fellow Vanderbilt alums and fans. Not sure how many we were, but we certainly were loud and encouraging throughout the game.

Highlights came when our daughter Maggie (A&S ’09) called from Atlanta to state she “Saw Mom in her hat and brother Witt and his friend chest bump” after the ‘pick six’ TD. Then witnessing the stands literally “hemorrhaging red” beginning around the 8 minute mark was a sight to behold. We have been at the last three Vanderbilt victories in Oxford, but this was the best because we got to share the moment with fellow Commodores.

2. MarkNWhiteBluff submitted this TV screenshot (you know, right before Coach was doused with Gatorade) and commented, “I couldn’t make the drive but this was awesome! The entire team won this game. Way 2 go Dores! Intestinal Fortitude at its finest!!”
