VU signee Carter selected for McDonald's All American game

Jan. 18, 2016

Vanderbilt signee Chassity “LeaLea” Carter, a senior standout at Dickson County High, has been selected to play in the 15th annual McDonald’s All-American Game. The rosters for the prestigious game were announced late Sunday night.

Carter was one of 24 players chosen for the game, which will be played March 30 at the United Center in Chicago. Carter is slated to suit up for the West squad. Full rosters HERE.

Carter’s selection marks the second Vanderbilt signee to be picked for the game in the past three years. Redshirt sophomore Rebekah Dahlman competed in the 2013 McDonald’s All-American game following her senior season at Braham Area (Minn.)

“I am so excited for LeaLea, and I know she is going to have an awesome experience,” said Dahlman. “For me, it was probably the biggest highlight of my high school career. Not only do you get to play in the game, but we also visited the Ronald McDonald house, which was awesome. So it was just an amazing opportunity for me — and I know LeaLea will love it, too.”

Carter signed a National Letter of Intent with Vanderbilt in November, and was a member of the Commodores’ highly-touted six-player signing class that was ranked No. 6 in the nation by Blue Star Basketball.

Carter is one of the highest-rated recruits in the history of the Vanderbilt program. The 5-11 guard is listed among the Top-15 recruits in the nation by numerous recruiting outlets, including being rated in the Top-10 at her position by two publications — No. 3 by Prospects Nation and No. 6 by ESPN HoopGurlz.

She averaged 15 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists last season while earning Class AAA All-State honors, and is the reigning two-time District 11-AAA Tournament MVP. She was also a member of the 2013 USA Basketball U16 National Team that captured the gold medal.
