NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt begins a three-game homestand at Memorial Gym when Tennessee Tech comes to Nashville for a 5 p.m. CT tip-off Saturday. The game will be televised by CSS, and the game can be heard on the Vanderbilt-ISP Radio Network, with Joe Fisher and Tim Thompson on the call.

Vanderbilt defeated USF, 71-52, Tuesday night at the Sommet Center in Nashville in the SEC/Big East Invitational. The Commodores got a pair of 20-point performances from sophomore center A.J. Ogilvy and junior point guard Jermaine Beal, and limited the Bulls to a 34.0 percent shooting percentage and only 23.5 percent from three.

Ogilvy added 13 rebounds en route to his second double-double of the season, and Beal’s 20-point output was a new career high. The game marked the first time two Vanderbilt players posted 20-point performances this season and the first time since Ogilvy and Shan Foster dropped 27 and 26 respectively against Auburn last season (3/13/2008). Ogilvy has now scored in double figures in all 10 games this season.

Saturday’s game with Tennessee Tech will mark the beginning of a three-game homestand at Memorial Gym. The Commodores will take on the Golden Eagles, Furman on Dec. 22, and then St. Francis on New Year’s Eve. Vanderbilt then closes out non-conference play with a trip to UMass on Jan. 3.

Ogilvy’s 20-point performance pushed his season average to 15.8 points, 11th best in the SEC. Commodore freshman Jeffery Taylor is next at 13.3 points per game. Beal averages 11.4 points per contest, and freshman Brad Tinsley adds 10.3 points per game. Taylor missed out on double-digits for the first time in his career against South Florida, after tallying nine points against the Bulls.

Vanderbilt and Tennessee Tech will meet for the 20th time Saturday, and for the 13th time in Nashville. The Commodores own an 11-1 series record in Nashville, and a 13-6 overall series advantage. Vanderbilt is 53-8 all-time against the Ohio Valley Conference, and Tennessee Tech will be the second OVC foe for the Commodores this season. VU defeated Morehead State, 74-48, in the season opener on Nov. 16.

Tennessee Tech is 6-3 on the season and most recently dropped a 69-59 decision to Florida State in Tallahassee on Dec. 16. Daniel Northern leads all Golden Eagle scorers at 11.9 points per game, while D.J. Lindsay chips in 10.6 points per contest. Northern also leads the team in rebounding at 6.9 rebounds per game.
