Bill Traughber, a Middle Tennessee-based sports historian, has been honored for his writing by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
Traughber has written a popular Vanderbilt athletics history column weekly for three years for the University’s official web site, vucommodores.com. His award from the state sports writers is for third place in the Best Feature Writing Division for 2006-07.
“We are very proud of this award and most appreciative of Bill for his professional approach to his work,” says Media Relations Director Rod Williamson. “Our readers didn’t need any reminders to recognize Bill’s knack for storytelling. Bill has had so many interesting features that it is difficult to single any one or two of them out as extra special – everyone has their own favorites. He almost single-handedly has kept great moments and unforgettable personalities alive through his research and solid writing.”
Traughber’s columns are archived under Commodore History Corner (click here), found under the Multimedia Section on vucommodores.com. They are nearly required reading for anyone interested in Vanderbilt sports history.
