Vanderbilt Head Coach Kevin Stallings
On the game
“Everything about the game, for us, I thought it was good. They just out-rebounded us on the board and that was really disappointing. Other than that, I thought our kids really competed. Both teams competed really hard. That was a tough, tough game to win. We feel fortunate to have won it.”
On Florida getting into the NCAA Tournament
“In my opinion, there aren’t 35 teams – or however many there are – in the country better than those guys. They deserve to be in the tournament. For our guys to come in here – this was a tough game for us to win. We were a little bit out of sorts, but we came through.”
On John Jenkins
“He made some difficult shots – he made some shots with hands in his face. He is a great shooter. He was in a little bit of a zone tonight – we were fortunate to find it a few times. (Florida) was mostly (playing) zone the second half. They were matching up and we were just trying to move them around to see if we could have the defense loose sight of them.”
Freshman Guard John Jenkins
On the game
“It was too much for a freshman. It’s a hostile environment and crazy to get a win out here.”
On not scoring in the last 2:30 minutes of the game
“Sometimes you go through those droughts and you have to pick it up, but we are happy to get a win so we’ll take it either way.”
On Jermaine Beal getting him the ball
“Senior point guard for you. He sees the defense very well and I was open in the corner. He passed me the ball and I was thankful I was open. He’s a great point guard and I am not surprised he did that.”
Junior Center A.J. Ogilvy
On John Jenkins
“They left John open on the perimeter and when he’s open, he’s going to knock them down. He had a great shooting night tonight.”
On the environment
“It was a great environment. I love playing in places like this where the energy is high and the fans are into it. It was a lot of fun.”
On the runs in the game
“We knew that we were going to have to face some runs. Florida played on runs and they had a couple of big runs that sort of hurt us. We knew that if we just stuck together and played our basketball that we would be able to be in a position, with a couple minutes left to play, to win.”
