VU Fans Invited to Jam the Gym Sunday against South Carolina 1-7-05 1/7/2005 NASHVILLE — Vanderbilt fans looking for a family-fun filled experience are welcomed to come “Jam the Gym” on Sunday. The Commodore Women’s basketball team will play host to South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference opener on Fan Appreciation Day at Memorial Gymnasium. Tickets are $1 for the 2 p.m. tip-off and VU is looking for a large crowd to welcome in the 2005 SEC season. The first 2,000 fans will receive lapel pins commemorating the 2004 SEC Tournament Championship. Vanderbilt will also sponsor “Fun for Kids” including entertainment featuring an appearance from SpongeBob SquarePants, an airbrush artist and a sign making station in the South Lobby beginning at 1:15 p.m. Fans will also be treated to mascot basketball game at halftime featuring mascots from the Nashville area (Ozzie, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital’s Champ, T-Rac, Mr. Commodore and more). A post-game autograph session with the 2004-05 women’s basketball team will follow. Vanderbilt finished the 2003-04 SEC regular season, 8-6, before rattling of four straight wins in the SEC Tournament on its way to the program’s fourth SEC Tournament title.
