INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Vanderbilt’s Victoria Varano used two powerful games to leap into seventh place Tuesday as the Junior Gold Championship completed its second day of qualifying.

Varano, hoping to repeat on the Junior Team USA roster, used scores of 232 and 276 to notch an 878 4-game total. There are 588 competitors in the under-18 age group.

Natalie Kent was in 20th position, ending her two-day total at 1,593 (-7). A closing 156 kept her out of the top 10. Hayley Lindley, another incoming Vandy freshman, has not found the Indy lanes friendly and needs a big rally to make Thursday’s Advancer’s Round cut to 84.

Erin Klemencia of Powder Springs, Georgia, had a monster day and leads the field at 1,813 (+213).

The tournament continues Wednesday; complete information can be found HERE.
