BALTIMORE – On Saturday, the Greater Baltimore Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame will recognize Vanderbilt alum Ally Carey Grieninger as part of its 2024 induction class.
This induction will make her eligible for the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Grieninger (née Carey), will be one of eight enshrined during the 26th annual induction celebration at 6 p.m. ET at Martin’s Valley Mansion.
A 2017 Vanderbilt Hall of Famer, Grieninger remains the program’s only three-time first-team All-American. At the end of her career, which spanned the 2009-12 seasons, she left Vanderbilt in possession of multiple school records. Grieninger still tops the Dores’ career list in ground balls (166) and is currently second in draw controls (263). She also remains fourth all-time in caused turnovers (110), fifth in assists (69) and sixth in goals (132).
Along with her All-America recognition, Grieninger was also a four-time all-conference honoree at Vanderbilt. She is one of just five Commodores to score at least 200 points (201), and she led the Dores with 32 goals and 42 points as a senior in 2012. Vanderbilt retired Grieninger’s No. 2 jersey following the culmination of her playing career.
The former Commodore led the U.S. national team to a gold medal at the 2017 FIL Rathbones Women’s World Cup in England. Grieninger became a first-round pick in the inaugural Women’s Professional Lacrosse League draft one month after winning gold when the Upstate Pride selected her with the No. 5 overall pick.
Grieninger’s gold medal with Team USA in 2017 was her second career gold with the Red, White and Blue. She helped Team USA secure a top podium spot in Germany in 2013, as well.
