ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 5/5-ranked Vanderbilt women’s basketball team heads out on its penultimate road trip of the 2025-26 season on Sunday, as the Commodores travel to the Peach State to battle Georgia. Tipoff against the Lady Bulldogs is set for 11 a.m. CT from Stegeman Coliseum and airs live across the nation on SEC Network.

Starting Five
>> Vanderbilt hits the road this weekend on a four-game winning streak that has pushed the Commodores’ overall season record to 24-2 and 10-2 in SEC play. The Dores have won three-straight contests over ranked teams, which include back-to-back 16-point victories over No. 10/11 Oklahoma (102-86) and No. 4/4 Texas (86-70) at Memorial Gym earlier this week.

>> The Commodores hold an overall record of 24-2, which is tied with the 1992-93 Final Four team for the best start in school history through 26 games. The 1992-93 team opened the season at 24-2 and went on to win its next six games before falling to Texas Tech in the 1993 Final Four in Atlanta.

>> Vandy is 10-2 in the SEC for the first time since the 2008-09 season. A win on Sunday would put the Commodores at 11-2 in league play for the first time in program history. The 11 SEC wins by the 2007-08 squad are the most league victories for Vandy in a single season. The Dores are 10-2 in SEC play and are currently second place in the league standings, entering the weekend a half-game back of first-place South Carolina.

>> The Dores’ 24 wins this season are the most under head coach Shea Ralph. It is the first time Vanderbilt has won 24-plus games in a campaign since winning 26 games in 2008-09. The 2025-26 team’s 24 wins are tied with the 2000-01 team for the fifth-most wins in a season in school history.

>> The Commodores and Lady Bulldogs are meeting for the 73rd time in a series dating back to the 1978-79 season. Georgia leads 41-31, though Vanderbilt has won the last three matchups. The Dores are 9-20 all-time in Athens, but were victorious in their last trip to Stegeman Coliseum on Feb. 11, 2024, winning a 61-55 contest. Vandy is 3-2 against Georgia under head coach Shea Ralph.

National Rankings
The Commodores sit at No. 5 in both the Associated Press top 25 and the USA Today/WBCA Coaches poll this week. This season marks the first time since the 2001-02 campaign that the Dores have been ranked in the top 10 in both major college women’s basketball polls. Vandy has been in the top 10 in both polls each of the last six weeks, which is the longest stretch since a 20-week streak between the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.

NET Ranking
Vanderbilt holds a NET ranking of seven heading into Thursday. Vandy has collected six Quad 1 wins, four Quad 2 victories and six Quad 3 wins through the first 25 games this season.

The Dores opened the season at No. 12 in the first NET rankings of the 2025-26 season. The NET is an evaluation tool used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine seeding and bids.

Balanced Scoring
Vanderbilt has had three or more players score double-digit points in 24 of its 26 games this season. Recently, the Commodores had four players record double-figure points in the win vs. No. 4/4 Texas on Thursday.

Road Warriors
The Commodores are 10-2 in road and neutral site games this season. Vanderbilt is 14-8 in SEC road games since the start of the 2023-24 season. Vandy won a program record six road games in 2023-24. Overall, Vanderbilt is 21-9 in true road games since the 2023-24 campaign.

Nation’s Best Scorer
Sophomore Mikayla Blakes leads the nation in scoring at 26.2 points per game.  In SEC play, Blakes is putting up 29.8 points per game through 12 league games. She comes into Sunday having scored 30 points in four-straight games, making her the first SEC player to accomplish the feat this century.

The last three 30-point performances have come against ranked teams. That makes Blakes only one of two NCAA Division I players this century to have three-straight 30-point games against ranked teams, while she is the only one to accomplish the feat during the regular season.

The 5-8 guard scored a season-high 38 points at Mississippi State on Jan. 15. Blakes has scored 25-plus points in 14 games this season, while she has tallied 30-plus points in a contest nine times, which are the most 30-point performances in the country this season.

Scouting the Lady Bulldogs

The Lady Bulldogs are receiving votes in both the AP top 25 and the USA Today/WBCA coaches poll, while UGA is ranked No. 35 in the NET ranking. Georgia has lost three of its last four contests, which includes an 85-71 loss to Mississippi State at home this past Thursday. Georgia is 10-3 at home this season, but has lost two-straight. The Lady Bulldogs are in Year 4 under head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, who is 66-55 during her time in Athens, while she is 438-212 in 21 seasons as an NCAA Division I head coach.

Sophomore Dani Carnegie (18.1 ppg) leads a pack of four Bulldogs that average double-digit points this season and leads the team in rebounding at 5.6 caroms per contest. Sophomore Mia Woolfolk is putting up 12.3 points per game, while junior Rylie Theuerkauf (11.9 ppg) and sophomore Trinity Turner (11.6 ppg) round out the group.

The Lady Bulldogs average 75.3 points per game and allow 59.8 points per game. Georgia is shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 34.3 percent from behind the arc. Defensively, UGA allows opponents to shoot 37.1 percent from the field and 28.9 percent beyond the 3-point line.
