GREENSBORO, N.C. – The second-ranked Vanderbilt bowling team holds the No. 2 spot on the leaderboard after Friday’s competition at the North Carolina A&T Stallings Invitational.
“Overall, it was a good day. Scores are low. We need to come out tomorrow ready to play knowing it’s going to probably be a grind with the right mindset. I thought Alyssa came in and did a really nice job off the bench.”
The Dores swept their first three Baker matches of the event. Vandy bested Mount Saint Mary’s 979-902, Alabama A&M 922-900 and No. 18 Maryland-Eastern Shore by a score of 1,075-901. No. 15 Duquesne handed the Dores their first loss of the day in Game 4, winning the match, 966-939. Vanderbilt rebounded quickly to defeat Belmont Abbey in Game 5, 1,040-900.
Third-ranked Jacksonville State leads the field with 5,090 pins. The Commodores trail by 135 pins with a 4,955-pin total. Duquesne and NCAT are seeded third and fourth, respectively.
The second day of the Stallings Invitational gets underway Saturday at 8:25 a.m. CT. The Commodores will stream all their matches on YouTube. Fans can follow Vanderbilt bowling on X at @VandyBowling for updates.
