Vandy Faces Final Regular Season Road Test

The Commodores will compete in the 2024 Wisconsin Pre-Nationals

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt cross country hits the road for Madison, Wisconsin, to compete in the 2024 Wisconsin Pre-Nationals at the Thomas Zimmer Championships Cross Country Course. Saturday’s meet will be the Commodores’ final race before the SEC Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1.

The women’s field includes Air Force, Auburn, Belmont, Cal Baptist, Cal Poly, Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, James Madison, Kansas, Miana (Fla.), Miami (Ohio), Northeastern, Oakland, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Portland, Purdue, Quinnipiac, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UMass Lowell, Utah State, Valparaiso, Washington State and Western Michigan.

The Commodore men will be competing against student-athletes from Belmont, Central Michigan, Florida, Illinois, Illinois State, Kansas, Liberty, Miami (Fla.), Miami (Ohio), Minnesota, Northeastern, Oakland, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Purdue, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UMass Lowell, UMBC, Utah Valley, Valparaiso, Washington State, Weber State and Yale.

The last time out
Vandy’s women’s and men’s squads finished 11th and 12th, respectively, at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational.

Senior Julia Rosenberg set the pace on the women’s side, earning a top 50 finish in the blue division. Graduate student Ellie Wolski was, once again, the second Commodore to cross the finish line. Both Rosenberg (16:57.5) and Wolski (17:01.6) turned in personal best times in the 5-kilometer race.

The men’s team was led by freshman Michael Skora for the third straight meet. He finished 15th overall and fourth among freshmen in the gold division clocking 24:31.8. Sophomore Brady Bliven, who was the Vandy finisher, recorded a top 25 placement and a personal-best time of 24:43.2.
