COLUMBIA, S.C. — Vanderbilt fell Monday night 85-30 to No. 1 South Carolina inside Colonial Life Arena.
Vandy was led by Brinae Alexander the lone scorer in double figures with 10 points.
The sluggish start was evident for both teams in the opening period with the first bucket of the night coming around the 8:30 minute mark as South Carolina’s LeLe Grissett finding her way into the painted area. From there the Gamecocks added another before Iyana Moore scored the first points for the Commodores (10-10, 1-5 SEC).
The lead ballooned from there for the Gamecocks (18-1, 6-1 SEC) who reached an apex of 56 points in the 1:28 mark in the fourth period.
Vanderbilt was held to single digits in each period.
South Carolina produced double-digit scoring in each period and scored 25 points in the final period, the most of the game.
Aliyah Boston continued her record setting double-double streak with 11 points and 12 rebounds. The Gamecocks had several others in double figures led by Grissett’s 14 points.
The Commodores return to Memorial Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Thursday to face Kentucky.
