NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team checked in at No. 24 in this week’s USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll, marking the first time in 10 seasons that the Commodores have been featured in a major college women’s basketball national poll.
Vanderbilt picked up 57 points in this week’s USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll to come in at No. 24. It is the first time since Feb. 18, 2014, that the Dores have been featured in the USA Today/WBCA Top 25. The Commodores are off to the second-best start in program history, as Vanderbilt stands at 15-1 this season and is a perfect 2-0 in SEC play.
Vandy is one of three SEC teams to be ranked in this week’s USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll. South Carolina comes in at No. 1 overall, while LSU checks in at No. 5. Vanderbilt is on the brink of being ranked in both major college women’s basketball polls, as the Commodores were the top team receiving votes in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 with 38 votes, 30 votes shy of No. 25-ranked UNLV.
The Commodores open a two-game week this Thursday at Kentucky. Tipoff against the Wildcats is set for 6 p.m. CT and will stream live on SEC Network+. Vanderbilt returns to Memorial Gymnasium this Sunday to take on Missouri in the program’s annual Pride Game. Tipoff against the Tigers is set for noon and will air live on SEC Network.
