Dores led by double-digit effort from Brinae Alexander

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt hosted Missouri on Thursday night, falling to the Tigers 66-52 inside Memorial Gymnasium.

The Tigers would outscore the Commodores 10-9 in the opening period.

The scoring picked up in the following period starting with Kiya Dorroh’s jumper for Missouri. Bella LaChance quickly responded for Vanderbilt shortly after.

Contributions came in waves for the Commodores (10-9, 1-4 SEC) in this stanza with five different players scoring getting the home team within 27-23 at the break.

Missouri held a 20-15 edge in the third thanks, in part, to eight points from Lauren Hansen. The 15 points was the largest output in any quarter for Vandy on the night.

Vandy battled back in the final stanza and rallied to close the gap. A 12-9 run began with a split trip to the free throw line for Sacha Washington at the 6:10 mark. Brinae Alexander, Demi Washington, Kaylon Smith and Sacha Washington all netted points during the waning minutes of the game.

In her 14th game this season, Alexander tallied double digits finishing with 19 points. She collected three rebounds, dished out a a pair of assists, recorded four steals and a block.

Getting the start for Jordyn Cambridge was Iyana Moore, the second start of her young career. Moore concluded the contest with five points, a steal and two rebounds in 22 minutes.

Missouri (14-5, 3-3 SEC) had four in double figures with Hansen’s 15 points leading the way.

Vanderbilt next heads to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the No. 1-ranked Gamecocks of South Carolina at 6 p.m. CT Monday.
