NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt volleyball team earned a 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 26-24) victory over Lipscomb Thursday night at Allen Arena.
The Commodores (2-2), who hit a season-best .354, were paced offensively by Kamryn Chaney who amassed a season-high 21 kills and hit at a .400 clip. The junior also added four service aces. Isabella Bareford contributed 41 assists, while Jackie Moore and Reese Animashaun recorded eight and nine kills, respectively
Defensively, Hailee Mack posted 14 digs, her fourth straight contest recording 10-plus digs. Moore also registered five blocks.
Berkley Mischler and Courtney Jones each tallied double-digit kills for the Bisons (1-3), recording 15 and 11, respectively. Sophia Hudepohl led Lipscomb with 43 assists.
Vanderbilt posted hitting percentages of .522 and .562 in the first and second sets. The Dores won the first set by a score of 25-17, ending on a 5-0 run. Lipscomb applied pressure during the set 2, which no team led by more than three until Vandy took a 24-20 lead before winning the set, 25-21.
Lipscomb was able to grab a 25-21 win in the third set. The Bisons hit .407 as a team, and Jones recorded four of her 11 total kills during set 3.
The Commodores secured the match win in set 4 where they held the Bisons to a hitting percentage of just .081.
