Pregame Notes:
– This is the 16th matchup between the Tennessee State Tigers and the Vanderbilt Commodores. Vanderbilt has 13-2 advantage in the series.
– Vanderbilt is coming off a week-long break from competition as the players completed their finals.
– The Commodores are regaining their winning ways, entering the afternoon with a two-game winning streak.

First Half:
– Vanderbilt and TSU traded baskets for the first four minutes of the game, but went ahead for good with a Merideth Marsh 3-pointer at the 15:39 mark of the first half.
– Vanderbilt went to work in the paint in the first eight minutes with great layups by Lauren Lueders, Jence Rhoads, and Hannah Tuomi.
Lauren Lueders had two 3-pointers in the first half, at the 12:07 and :11 marks, respectively. She now has 17 on the season and 93 for her career.
Merideth Marsh had four 3-pointers in the first half, at the 15:39, 9:21 and 8:26, and 3:16 marks, respectively. She now has 26 on the season and 194 for her career.
– Vanderbilt did not allow TSU into double-digit points until the 8:11 mark.
Jence Rhoads stopped a 14-0 Falcon run with a quick jumper at the 12:42 mark.
Hannah Tuomi had a spinning layup at the 4:33 mark, putting Vanderbilt up by 18.
Jence Rhoads fed Merideth Marsh the ball for a fast-break layup at the 2:16 mark.
– The last time Vanderbilt scored more than 50 points in a half was against Austin Peay on 11/27/09 at Vanderbilt’s Thanksgiving Tournament.
– The last time Vanderbilt scored more than 50 points in the first half of competition was against TSU almost exactly a year prior on 12/19/09. Vanderbilt scored 51.
– The Commodores shot over 60% from the floor and was nearly 43% from the 3-point arch.
Merideth Marsh led all scorers with 16 points, with Lauren Lueders following with 10.
– The Commodores outrebounded the Tigers 26-16 for the half.

Second Half:
Merideth Marsh started the half off with authority, sinking a 3-pointer at the 19:46 mark of the second half. This is her 27th of the season and 195th of her career.
– Mooney eclipsed her season-high of 10 points at the 13:54 mark of the second half, giving her 11 points thus far.
Jessica Mooney blocked a shot and drove for a fast-break layup at the 10:37 mark of the second half.
Merideth Marsh hit her sixth 3-pointer of the night at the 4:56 mark of the second half. That gives her 196 for her career and 28th of the season.

Postgame Notes:
– With the win, Vanderbilt moves to 10-1 on the season. Tennessee State falls to 3-7.
– Vanderbilt’s Merideth Marsh led all scorers with 24 points, two shy of her career-high. Jessica Mooney and Hannah Tuomi followed each with 15 points. This is Mooney’s season-high.
– By allowing only 47 points to TSU Sunday, Vanderbilt has now kept an opponent under 50 points three times this season. The Commodores held St. Joseph’s to 46 points and Wright State to 46.
Rebecca Silinski eclipsed her career-high of four points, setting a new career-high with six. She contributed five rebounds, also a career-high.
Tiffany Clarke had nine rebounds, tying her career-high.
Lauren Lueders had another great outing, contributing 10 points.
Jence Rhoads led both teams in assists with seven and only allowing one turnover.
– Vanderbilt had 25 assists in the contest. The last time Vanderbilt had 25 assists was against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in last year’s home opener.
– Vanderbilt prevailed with only eight eligible players for the contest. All players scored at least two points on the afternoon.
