Vanderbilt Travels West In Search of Quality Win Against Oregon

Vanderbilt heads west for the second consecutive week looking for a quality win. The Commodores (4-2) travel to the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore. to compete in the Pape’ Jam, taking on the Oregon Ducks, Saturday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. CT.

The Commodores are coming off a 74-58 home win over Austin Peay Wednesday. Mario Moore netted a game-high 23 points as Vanderbilt won its 17th consecutive non-conference home game.

Oregon (3-0), picked to finish fourth in the Pac-10 in the preseason media poll, has four starters averaging double-digit point totals led by Aaron Brooks’ 17.0 points. The Ducks topped Marshall 89-69 in their last game on Nov. 27.

Vanderbilt hopes to take its sharp shooting eye on the road. The Commodores have hit 50.0 percent or better from three-point range in their last three home games, including a 52.0 percent (13-of-25) effort against Austin Peay.

The Commodores struggled with turnovers last weekend in the Las Vegas Holiday Invitational, committing 41 miscues in two games.

Vanderbilt leads the all-time series 4-1, but Oregon won the last meeting — a 90-70 decision on Dec. 22, 1998 in the inaugural Pape’ Jam.
