– Vanderbilt started freshman Jasmine Lister, sophomore Gabby Smith and seniors Rebecca Silinski, Hannah Tuomi and Jence Rhoads.
– This is the first time this season Vanderbilt has used this lineup.
– Vanderbilt used their seventh different starting lineup in eight games this season.
– This is Hannah Tuomi’s 91st career start and 102nd appearance.
– Jence Rhoads made her 87th career start and team leading 107th appearance.
– Lister and Tuomi have started every game for Vanderbilt this season.
– Senior forward Rebecca Silinski earned her first career start.
– Christina Foggie missed the game due to a concussion suffered against Bowling Green and Stephanie Holzer sat out with a back injury.
Team Notes
– Vandy is 10-1 against Southern Illinois all-time.
– Head Coach Melanie Balcomb notched her 200th win at Vanderbilt and is 200-75 in her ninth season.
– Vanderbilt is 23-2 all-time against teams that are currently in the Missouri Valley.
– The Commodores improved to 5-0 when leading at the half.
– Vanderbilt improved to 5-0 at home and snapped a two-game losing streak.
– Vandy shot 30 free throws on the night compared to Southern Illinois’ five attempts.
– Vanderbilt committed a season-low eight turnovers and forced 17. The team’s eight turnovers were the fewest since 2009 against Tennessee State.
– The Commodores won for the first time this year when being outrebounded. The Salukis grabbed 34 boards to Vandy’s 31.
– Eight of the nine Commodores that saw action scored with Junior Jordan Coleman the only player not to score. Coleman, however, led the team with six rebounds.
Individual Notes
– Senior Hannah Tuomi scored a career-high 29 points. The game was her first 20-plus point game of the season and fifth of her career. Her 29 points are also the most by a Commodore this season. The performance marked the seventh time in eight games the senior has scored at least 11 points.
– Freshman Jasmine Lister scored 14 points and has scored at least 12 points in each of her first eight collegiate games.
– Senior Jence Rhoads scored 11 points to pick up her team-best 38th career 10-plus point game. Her seven assists led all players and set a new season-high.
