NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt cross country continues its 2025 season when the Commodores travel to Huntsville, Alabama, to compete at the NCAA Division I South Region Cross Country Championships at the John Hunt Cross Country Course on Friday.
The Commodore women enter the competition ranked sixth in the region and are coming off a 10th-place finish at the SEC Cross Country Championships two weeks ago. For the second meet in a row, Tyla Lumley paced the Vanderbilt women’s squad, coming in 35th with a time of 20:56.86. She was closely followed by Bria Bennis, who finished 37th with a time of 20:59.92. Lily Kriegel, Claire Petersen and Myrto Valacha were the Commodores’ additional scoring performers.
Luke Churchwell led the Vandy men’s team at the SEC Championships, the third time this season he has been the top Commodore finisher. Churchwell finished 59th overall with a time of 24:43.19. Additional scorers on the men’s side included Brady Bliven, Michael Skora, Sam Darmanie and Finn Richards. The men’s team placed 14th at the conference championships.
Action at the regional meet gets underway Friday at 8:30 a.m. with the women’s 6-kilometer race. The men’s 10-kilometer race begins at 9:30 a.m. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+, and live results are available online.
