Vanderbilt’s Jason Holwerda Named SEC Good Works Team Player of the Week 2/1/2005
Vanderbilt’s Jason Holwerda Named SEC Good Works Team Player of the Week Vanderbilt senior guard Jason Holwerda will be featured this week as the SEC Good Works Team Player of the Week on Jefferson-Pilot’s telecasts of the Tennessee at Vanderbilt, Alabama at Florida and Kentucky at Vanderbilt games. The Chattanooga, Tennessee native participates in Vanderbilt Field Day where Vanderbilt student-athletes play sports with disadvantaged youth. He also helps with the Vanderbilt Student-Athlete Christmas Party where Vanderbilt student-athletes purchase gifts for disadvantaged youth in Nashville. Holwerda lends his time with the “Kids Zone” where disadvantage youth spend the afternoon with Vanderbilt student-athletes at Commodore football games. He also serves as a guest speaker at Nashville churches talking with area youth comparing basketball with everyday challenges in life. The SEC sponsors Good Works Teams for football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s sports at-large, and women’s sports atlarge. Jefferson-Pilot highlights one member of the SEC Good Works Team for men’s basketball during each week of its men’s basketball telecasts.
